OUR NAME
I’ve always loved my hometown and wanted our new name to be unique and identify with Atchison’s history. In 1921 Amelia Earhart bought her first aircraft, a yellow biplane, that she nicknamed “Canary”!
Amelia’s courage, determination, and adventurous spirit continues to be apart of this town, and sheds light on the joy we want to share at Canary Dental. We want our team and patients to feel welcomed in our cheerful and positive office. Through identifying with Atchison’s historic connection to aviation and the bright outlook we have for our patient's smiles, we created the name, Canary Dental!

Our team feels sincerely blessed to have a strong growing practice made up of wonderful patients, friends, and neighbors that we deeply care about. We feel that our new name reflects this warm, inviting, and exciting atmosphere that distinguishes our practice.

Invisalign
The quick, comfortable, and discrete alternative to traditional brackets and braces. Some advantages include a clear and intimate fit, convenient, and easier brushing and flossing. Aligners are removable and double as a nighttime appliance. Aligners can also provide a strong, healthy foundation for cosmetic restorations and the potential for excellent whitening results in the future.
Dentistry for Kids

Pediatric care focuses on caries prevention and teaches good hygiene habits at an early age. Our young patients are evaluated for cavities, and also facial development and sleep habits. Jaw development is crucial for the overall health and growth of a child! We are Healthy Start Providers and screen all children for sleep breathing disorder which can affect the behavior, emotions, and growth of the child! We are very passionate about dental care for our children!

Restorative Dentistry
Tooth decay affects the majority of people in their lifetime. White fillings are bonded into the tooth after the decay is removed. When the filling is large or teeth are cracked, a porcelain crown is created to cover and protect the tooth. If teeth are missing, bridges and implant crowns can give a patient a fixed solution.
Botox, TMD & Sleep Dentistry
Bruxism, or teeth grinding, affects millions of children and adults in the US. Left untreated, bruxism can be detrimental to teeth. Bruxism can also be an indicator of sleep apnea and poor sleep habits. TMJ disorder, or TMD, is a dysfunction of one or both jaw joints. These painful and destructive disorders can be treated with appliances and botox that protect from further damage.
Dentures & Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are custom designed to fit around remaining natural teeth and fill in the spaces where teeth are missing. Complete dentures are designed when a patient is missing all of their teeth on the upper or lower jaw. Both partial & complete dentures can be supported by implants to give a more secure fit.
Urgent Care & Extractions
Our goal is to optimize your smile's health and beauty. However, some dental infections and cracks can severely damage a tooth and removal is required. Infections and extractions are treated as necessary and options are given to replace the missing teeth.

Our Doctor:
Dr. Allyson is returning home to Atchison. She attended grade school and high school here. After graduating from the Mount-Academy in 2003, she moved to Nashville and earned her degree in biology at Vanderbilt University, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Allyson chose dentistry as her profession and enrolled at UMKC School of Dentistry, graduating in 2011, then furthering her studies at UMKC’s Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency, which she completed in 2012.
Dr. Allyson is thrilled to return to her hometown and the family is excited about settling in this lovely community. Dr. Allyson enjoys treating adults and children in preventive, restorative, and prosthetic areas of concentration. Her professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, Kansas Dental Association, American Academy of Facial Esthetics, and the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Allyson is excited to meet and grow with you and your families. She plans to make a positive imprint in the community of Atchison.
Dr. Allyson met her husband, Luis, in their early years of dental school. Dr. Luis Missura completed his residency in endodontics while serving in the US Army. His practice is located in Leavenworth. Together they have 3 beautiful sons - Alexander, Oliver and Benjamin.

Kim
Heather started her schooling at KSU, earning a bachelors degree in life science then attended Hillyard technical center where she earned her dental hygiene degree. Heather and her husband Jimmy have a little girl Gwynneth together. Besides spending time with her family, Heather enjoys traveling .
Kim graduated from UMKC Dental Hygiene School in 1995. She currently lives in Smithville and makes her drive to Atchison everyday just to be a part of our team! She and her husband Spike have 5 kids and spend much of their time engaged in their lives. Kim has numerous hobbies and has never met a stranger!
Hillary was born and raised in Atchison. She graduated from UMKC Dental Hygiene school in 2011. She is committed to building patient relationships and providing thorough and collaborative dental hygiene care. She relocated back home to Atchison in 2019. Her husband Greg is also from Atchison, together they have 3 children; Gwyn, Reid and Myra. She enjoys spending time with her family, praying the rosary and exercising.
Katy
Katy is our newest dental assistant. She is originally from Atchison and is raising her 3 girls here with her husband, Tyler. Katy enjoys figure skating with her family at the Bode ice rink. Her husband is a piolet and they enjoy taking their girls on family trips with their plane.
Mallory grew up in Effingham, KS and started her dental assisting career in 2015 after receiving her certification from Concorde Career College. You might also see Mallory greeting you at our front desk. In her spare time Mallory enjoys traveling with her husband Aaron, baking, and spending time with family and friends.

Kathy Jo serves as Canary Dental's office manager. We are blessed to have Kathy Jo on our team! She loves to be around family and friends and enjoys spending time in the sun. She may be one of the first you'll meet or speak with and we are confident she will bring a warm, personable, and caring experience to our patients.
Cheyanne joined our team as a treatment coordinator in July 2022. She enjoys assisting patients in utilizing their dental insurance efficiently and obtaining the best treatment possible. In her spare time she enjoys spending at the lake. She also enjoys spending time with her daughter, family and friends.
